Coasting

I admit it: my last work days are a bit less stressful and far less tasking than what I have previously experienced. That has led some people to opin that I am happy. To that thought I say “bah, humbug!” I may be smug, but I’m no gleeful school kid.

That said, it is good to have supporters of my actions. Even better, it is great to have people who push me to do the right things. The best is when they pay for drinks and/or buy airplane parts. If only this could happen all of the time ;)

Oh, and if you are looking for a job, try starting here.

Stuffs

Here are the quick updates as they are today:

  • The new gas plane flies (but I didn’t fly it)! Check out the pix here.
  • I’m changing jobs. More on this in a future newsletter.
  • Vacation time is fast approaching. Problem is I don’t know where I’m going.
  • Congress and the entertainment industry is getting stupid again. Go do something about it here.
  • That’s all for now.

    Stuff

I played a bit this weekend. Some Empire Earth, some Ghost Recon. But mostly I just tried to keep my PC running. And that’s the key to it all, isn’t it?

After some thinking I’m starting to wonder about the future of entertainment in the home. It is sure to be great, but I’m not sure how it should all work out. Will people besides me want to have all of their media available all of the time? I hope so.

    New Year – New Stuff

First off happy new year! Now that that’s out of the way it’s time to make some resolutions. Here they are:

  • Get some content on this web site
  • Keep people up-to-date more regularly than once a year
  • Provide useful information (any takers?)
  • Do something unexpected
  • That should do it for now. If I come up with other stuff I’ll post it here. Oh, and you can expect to see a lot more changes once I learn MySQL.

    Holidays

I can’t say that I did much over the holidays but I guess I had that coming. I have had the opportunity to see a few movies, and most were pretty good: Spy Game, Miss Congeniality, One Night at McCool’s, and Requiem for a Dream.

Finally got my two new games up and running and they are great. You should go play them (if you have days to give up): Empire Earth and Flight Simulator 2002.

    Weekends

Just got back from seeing Lord of the Rings and I have to say that it was great. Long, but great. Definitely recommended. I should qualify that I haven’t read any of the books, so that may have an effect.

Had to take someone to the airport this morning, leading me to wake up at 4:30AM. Bloody hell, that’s too damn early! Tomorrow is certainly going to be key for sleep catchup.

    The Move

I just did my first database move and it wasn’t all that painful. Everything looks like it still works, which is more than I can say for my brain right about now.

Oh, and dumb people really drain you. I think that must have been what killed off the dinosaurs.

    Ebay & TiVo Goodness

Well I finally won something on Ebay, but I had to snipe to get it. How you say? Using this nifty site. It seems to work most of the time if you know what the price range is for the item. Sneaky but effective.

Got home tonight only to find reruns. Some people have TiVos and it tells them when reruns happen so they don’t rush home to watch nothing on TV. And it records stuff so you don’t have to rush home. So, I guess I need a TiVo (and cable too)!

    Work and Speed

Sometimes work is good. Sometimes it’s not. It especially sucks when you are a bonehead and do dumb things. Today was one of those days for me. Oh well.

In general, speed is good. Faster cars, faster PCs, and of course, faster internet. But when your software gets faster, well, that’s as close to a bloody miracle as it comes. Today I saw software get faster. Way to go Steve (super-programmer)!
